With Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL ) and Cirrus Logic (NASDAQ: CRUS ) holding hands today as they dive into new 52-week lows, how cheap have shares gotten? Answer: Very.
In sickness and in health
Both companies have ridden high together over the past five years, and likewise the couple has fallen without leaving each other's side. At least they've still got each other, even if they've both given up substantial gains over the past six months.
AAPL data by YCharts.
Starting with the Mac maker, shares now trade at just 9.2 times earnings. That's almost half of the 17.9 times earnings that the broader market currently trades at. If you back out the $146 per share in cash that Apple was sitting on at the end of December, that figure falls to 5.8.
Taking it a bit further, Apple has no doubt added even more dollars to its money mountain over the past three months. Even after paying out its dividend and buying back some shares, it's entirely feasible for its cash position to grow by another $10 billion this quarter (which investors won't find out about until next Tuesday).

Advisors' Opinion:- [By James E. Brumley]
Despite every fiber of my being telling me to not get involved in the schoolyard fight between L&L Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ:LLEN) and apparently one of its enemies (that just so happens to have a short/bearish position in LLEN), I find myself unable to not sound off. A sane and unbiased observation has to be injected into the mix here.

Here where I see that Nucor hold its competitive advantage: electric arc furnaces (EAF). These furnaces, in spite of being more electricity intensive, require a much lower per-unit investment and are significantly more efficient in terms of labor. Adding to this, the fact the Nucor has shifted its raw material usage from pig iron to direct-reduced iron (DRI) by building a new production capacity that utilizes cheap natural gas is also a way in which management is attaining a low-cost strategy to outperform its competitors. Moreover, Nucor acquisition of ferrous scrap metal broker David J. Joseph Company allows it to avoid price volatility.

2. Sigma-Aldrich (NASDAQ: SIAL )
Maker of test tubes and beakers, Sigma-Aldrich has increased its dividend every year since 1976. Even though the company pays a relatively scrawny 1.1% dividend yield, its 21% payout ratio signals the company has ample opportunity to up its dividend for many years to come. - [By Maxx Chatsko]
Any company that creates products and relies on other companies to use and distribute them will inevitably forge strong relationships with its customers. It's an important thing to look into when investing, yet easy to overlook. Investors should know whether customers are reliable, which are leaned on the most, and if the company they own is too dependent on any customer (or a select few). Bioprocessing product company Repligen (NASDAQ: RGEN ) may make consumables that are the lifeline of the biotech industry, but its customer relationships are absolutely critical for smooth operations. Let's look at how the company interacts with the Life Sciences division of General Electric (NYSE: GE ) , EMD Millipore from Merck (NYSE: MRK ) , and Sigma-Aldrich (NASDAQ: SIAL ) -- the three most important customers.
- [By Vanina Egea]
At the beginning of April, the trade alarm for Sigma-Aldrich (SIAL) set off due to a larger seller coming together with the buyers to raise a posted offer. The phenomena pushed up stock face value, however unable to continue the previous trend. Hence, stock value has been on a decline since the month of March. Reasoning about the sources for the stagnation, will give potential investors important insight for a current or future investment. Given the nature of the firm, close attention should be paid to research and development. But, most importantly, to the business model as a whole and market environment. Looking at recent full year reports can also offer important information about specific performance indicators. In the middle, there is an important number of new positions consolidated by gurus through 2013, who would like to see new investors enter the business.

Sigma-Aldrich (NASDAQ: SIAL) is expected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.99 per share on revenue of $661.29 million.
CR Bard (NYSE: BCR) is projected to post its Q3 earnings at $1.40 per share on revenue of $739.62 million.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Chad Fraser] Christmas is a time for good cheer, reflection and spending time with friends and family. Here are four stocks that reflect the season, ranging from Christmas tree providers to toymakers and beyond:
Weyerhaeuser (NYSE: WY): Some little-known Christmas tree facts: there are 25 million to 30 million sold in the U.S. every year, with about 350 million currently growing in the country. It takes an average of seven years to grow a Christmas tree to its proper height.
Most Christmas tree farms are privately owned, but they need to get good seedlings from somewhere, so many turn to timber company Weyerhaeuser, which grows the most popular species—including balsam fir, Douglas fir, Scotch pine and white pine.
Weyerhaeuser controls about 6 million acres of timberland, with about a third of that in the Pacific Northwest, which is America’s most prolific lumber-producing region thanks to its cool, damp climate and considerable rainfall.
“The fact that it’s the largest timber producer in the Pacific Northwest makes Weyerhaeuser extremely attractive, because the company’s location gives it easy export access to China,” wrote Investing Daily analyst Benjamin Shepherd in a December 13 article. “This location also leaves it well-placed to pick up the supply slack created by lower production caps in Canada, which is typically a key Chinese supplier.”
Mattel (NYSE: MAT) is proving that the most traditional toys you can think of—dolls—still have a place under the tree, even in the digital age. As we reported on October 16, Mattel’s doll lineup was the main reason why its third-quarter earnings surged past Wall Street estimates.
The company’s strength is centered on its ability to come up with popular new dolls while reimagining the tried-and-true. Right now, its Monster High franchise, which it rolled out in 2010, is stealing the show: the brand’s p

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Ben Axler]
An old spin-out of Eaton Corp. (ETN), Axcelis Technologies (ACLS) designs, manufactures and services ion implantation, dry strip and other processing equipment used in the fabrication of semiconductor chips. The semiconductor capital equipment industry is very cyclical, and as a smaller player in the industry, ACLS has not been immune, and gone through protracted periods of losses. In the past few years, the company has taken numerous steps to reposition itself for the next cyclical upswing by listening to its customers and investing heavily in R&D to revamp its product line to expand its addressable market opportunity, right-sizing its cost structure to substantially lower its breakeven level, establishing new collaborative partnerships, and optimizing its balance sheet to unlock value. Now with signs of a cyclical upswing occurring, and being led by memory - Micron (MU) and SanDisk (SNDK), ACLS is poised for accelerating earnings potential beginning in Q4'2013 that could drive its stock price substantially higher. However, with a few nearer-term catalysts on the horizon, investors may not want to wait too long before purchasing shares. As an early indicator, investors should consider that insiders recently purchased the stock in the open market in August at current levels. These stock purchases coincide with the one year anniversary of ACLS's new Purion M product line entering an evaluation period with a major customer. Sell-side analysts are starting to take notice and listening in to the company's recent conference call, which at least opens the door to new broker initiations in the future. The downside risk appears mitigated by ACLS's strengthened balance sheet, and dramatically improved operating financial model that has stemmed further cash burn. As the company hits an inflection point with new customer contracts and proves its earnings cycle is under way, we expect ACLS's valuation discount to peers to narrow and the stock to appreciate substantially
- [By Dan Caplinger]
The problem, though, is that Micron needs to boost its prospects if it wants to stand up to its competition. Use of flash memory and solid-state memory drives has greatly increased demand for memory generally, and rivals are working hard to make their own inroads into trying to maximize that demand as long as it lasts. SanDisk (NASDAQ: SNDK ) has not only come out with its own solid-state drives but has also teamed up with hard-disk drive giant Western Digital to produce hybrid solid-state hard-disk drives that combine the benefits of solid-state memory with the cost-effectiveness of traditional hard drives. Even Rambus (NASDAQ: RMBS ) has soared to almost two-year highs thanks to a recent victory in getting SK Hynix to settle a patent dispute with the company, helping Rambus to ease the sting of having lost its major suit against Micron last year.
- [By Lee Jackson]
SanDisk Corp. (NASDAQ: SNDK) is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of flash memory storage drives. The company reported its second-quarter earnings in July and recorded revenue of $1.48 billion, which was up an impressive 43% from last year. The burgeoning demand for SanDisk’s products and the increase in price of its micro SD cards contributed to the rise in margins. Most mobile phone manufacturers now provide a card slot in their devices, leading to increased demand for memory cards. Customers looking to store more data have led to the growth of micro SD cards, pushing up demand in the process. The alliance with Apple just increased the odds the company will continue to dominate flash memory storage. The consensus price target is placed at $70. Investors are paid a 1.5% dividend. SanDisk closed Monday at $58.90.

SanDisk is no flash in the pan
Tuesday dawned bright for owners of "flash" memory specialist SanDisk (NASDAQ: SNDK ) . The company just announced it will begin selling the "world's fastest 64GB microSDXC card," the SanDisk Extreme microSDXC, which the company says is ideal for use in the latest smartphones, tablets and cameras. No sooner had it done so than analysts at Needham & Co. upped their price target on SanDisk stock to $75 -- a five-buck bump over the previous target.
